No. While paying in full is the simplest way to resolve an account, it is not the only option. If paying the full amount in a single payment is not possible right now, you can propose a payment arrangement — a plan to pay the outstanding amount in manageable instalments over time.
The Request a Payment Arrangement form lets you tell us what you can afford and how often you can pay. We review every reasonable proposal fairly, taking your circumstances into account.
A sustainable arrangement — one you can actually maintain — is far better for everyone than a lump sum that causes real hardship. There is no penalty for asking, and starting the conversation early always gives you more room.
If your financial situation is genuinely difficult, see the Hardship & support section. Free, independent financial counselling is also available through the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007.
