How long do I have to respond?

About your debt

Your letter or notice will state a timeframe for response — this is the period within which we ask you to pay, propose an arrangement, or contact us to discuss the account.

Responding within that timeframe keeps the most options open. If you are able to pay in full, that resolves the matter immediately. If you cannot pay in full, you can propose a payment arrangement, raise a dispute, or tell us about a hardship situation — all of these are better than silence.

What happens if you do not respond? The matter does not go away. An account that receives no response is more likely to be escalated, and escalation narrows the options available to you and can add cost. The sooner you engage, the more room there is to find a workable outcome.

If the timeframe in your letter has already passed, it is still worth contacting us. Late engagement is far better than no engagement. Use the contact us page or call us directly.
