What happens to my payment plan if my circumstances change?

Payments & arrangements

Life changes, and payment arrangements can change with it. If your financial circumstances have changed — for better or worse — you can ask us to review your current arrangement.

If things have become harder — you have lost income, had an unexpected expense, or are dealing with a health issue — contact us before you miss a payment. We can look at reducing instalments, pausing the arrangement temporarily, or, where circumstances are serious, placing the account into a hardship arrangement. See the Hardship & support section for more.

If things have improved and you want to pay off the balance sooner, that is always welcome. Contact us or use the Request a Payment Arrangement form to propose new terms.

The key principle is the same in either direction: contact us early. The earlier we know about a change, the more options are available and the easier it is to adjust the arrangement by agreement rather than having it fall into default.
