If the amount on your notice does not match what you expected — perhaps because you have already made partial payments, the invoice total was different, a credit was agreed, or you simply do not understand how the figure was reached — you are entitled to query it.
The first step is to raise a dispute using the Dispute a Debt form. Explain clearly what amount you believe is correct and why. If you have documents that support your figure — invoices, bank statements, emails confirming a credit or payment — include them.

While an amount dispute is under review, we will not ask you to pay an amount you are genuinely questioning. We will respond to you in writing once we have checked the figures with the original creditor.
