What is the reference number on my letter?

About your debt

Your reference number is a unique number we assign to your account when it is referred to us. It appears prominently on every letter or notice we send you.

The reference number does three important things:

  • It lets us find your account instantly when you contact us — without it, we may need to search by name and date of birth, which takes longer.
  • It ensures that any payment you make is matched to the correct account. Always include your reference number in any bank transfer description or payment reference field.
  • It identifies you to our online portal, which you can use to check your balance, make payments or propose a payment plan.

If you have misplaced your letter and cannot find your reference number, contact us with your name and contact details and we will locate your account and confirm it.
