What free financial counselling is available?

Hardship & support

Free financial counselling is available to anyone in Australia experiencing financial difficulty. A financial counsellor is a qualified, independent professional — they are not connected to us and their advice is completely confidential.

National Debt Helpline — call 1800 007 007, Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The helpline is staffed by accredited financial counsellors who can help you understand your options and, if you wish, assist you in negotiating with creditors like us.

MoneySmart — the Australian Government's personal finance website at moneysmart.gov.au has a financial counsellor locator tool that can find a counsellor near you.

Indigenous Financial Counselling — free services are available specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through the Indigenous Consumer Assistance Network (ICAN).

You are completely free to engage a financial counsellor. We welcome working with counsellors acting on your behalf — just let us know who they are and provide your consent for us to speak with them.
