Yes. If you are waiting on an insurance payout — or a settlement, compensation payment, or other specific incoming amount — that will be used to pay this debt in full or in part, you can ask us to pause recovery activity while that process concludes.
This is a recognised situation. It would not be reasonable to push a person into a payment arrangement or legal escalation when they have a specific, identifiable payment incoming that will resolve the matter.
What to provide:
- A brief explanation of the insurance claim or expected payment — what it relates to, who it is from, and the expected timeframe.
- Any supporting documentation you have — a claim reference number, correspondence from the insurer, or a letter confirming the payment is pending. You do not need a formal confirmation letter to start the conversation, but it helps.
- A realistic expected date for the payout to be received.
What happens: We will note the information on your account and, if the request is reasonable, pause active recovery for an agreed period while you wait for the payout. We will agree a review date with you in advance.
Contact us and quote your reference number to make this request. The sooner you let us know, the more easily we can accommodate the situation.
