Your reference is the key

When you refer a debt, you receive a matter reference. Keep this somewhere handy. Quoting it whenever you contact us means we can pull up the file instantly and give you an accurate update rather than a general one.

How to check progress

  1. Locate the matter reference from your referral acknowledgement.
  2. Note the date you last received an update.
  3. Check any portal or status tools we have provided at tools.merion.com.au.
  4. If you need more detail, contact your recovery officer and quote the reference.
  5. Record the update against your own ledger so your books stay current.

Recovery can involve quiet periods while we wait on a debtor, so no news is not always bad news.

Helping the matter along

If a debtor contacts you directly, or you receive a payment, let us know straight away so the file stays accurate. If we ask for an extra document, providing it quickly keeps momentum. You can refer further debts at any time through merion.com.au/refer-a-debt.

Good to know

  • Keep your matter reference handy for fast, accurate updates
  • Quiet periods are normal while waiting on a debtor
  • Tell us promptly about direct contact or payments

FAQ

How often will I get updates?

You will receive updates at key milestones. Between those, recovery may go quiet while we wait on the debtor, which is normal.

What should I do if the debtor pays me directly?

Let us know straight away with your matter reference so the file is corrected and any further action is paused or adjusted.

Can I check progress myself?

Where a status tool is available, you can check there. Otherwise, contact your recovery officer and quote your matter reference.

Still not sure? Our team is happy to talk it through.
