What's happening

This message simply means an account already exists with that email address. Most often it is because you registered at some point in the past, perhaps a while ago, and have understandably forgotten. There is nothing wrong on your end.

Rather than creating a second account, the answer is usually to sign in to the one you already have.

Try this first

  • Go to the login page and try to sign in with that email.
  • If you can't remember the password, use the Forgot password link to reset it.
  • Once the reset email arrives, set a new password and sign in.

Step by step

  1. From the login page, select Forgot password.
  2. Enter the email that was flagged as already in use and submit.
  3. Open the reset link from your inbox (check spam if needed) and choose a new password.
  4. Sign in with your new details — you now have access to your existing account.

If the email isn't yours to use

Occasionally this happens because a family member set up an account using a shared email, or you are trying to register on someone else's behalf. Our guide on accessing an account for someone else explains the right way to do this, and what authority is needed.

If you believe the email has been used without your knowledge, contact us through the Help Centre straight away so we can look into it.

Good to know

  • The message means an account already exists with that email.
  • You probably already have an account — sign in rather than re-register.
  • Reset your password if you can't recall it.
  • Contact the Help Centre if you don't recognise the existing account.

FAQ

Can I just use a different email to register again?

You could, but it usually causes confusion with two separate accounts. It is far simpler to recover the existing account by resetting your password.

I definitely never signed up. Why does it say this?

Sometimes a relative or representative registered using your email, or it was set up during an earlier interaction. If it looks unfamiliar, contact the Help Centre and we will check.

Will I lose anything by resetting the password on the existing account?

No. Resetting the password only changes how you sign in. All your account information stays intact.
