What's happening
Automatic payments let your instalments come out on a schedule without you having to remember each one. If setup didn't complete, it's commonly a mistyped detail on the form, a card not enabled for recurring payments, or a browser hiccup partway through. Nothing has been charged, and you can simply try again.
Check your details
Go back through the form and confirm:
- Your card number, expiry and security code, or your BSB and account number, are all correct.
- Your reference number is entered exactly.
- The start date and amount are right.
One small error is enough to stop the setup completing.
Check the card or account
Some cards and accounts need a quick check:
- Make sure the card is enabled for recurring or online payments in your banking app.
- Confirm the account allows direct debits.
- Check the card isn't expiring before the first scheduled payment.
Complete it another way
If the online setup still won't complete, we can set it up with you directly. Contact us through the contact page and we'll arrange your automatic payments. In the meantime, you can make a one-off payment on our Pay your balance page so nothing is missed.
Good to know
- A failed setup means nothing was charged — you can simply try again.
- A mistyped detail on the form is the most common reason it doesn't complete.
- Make sure your card is enabled for recurring payments in your banking app.
- We can set up automatic payments with you if the online form won't cooperate.
FAQ
Was I charged when the setup failed?
No. If setup didn't complete, no payment or schedule was created. You can try again or ask us to set it up for you.
Why won't my card work for automatic payments?
Some cards have recurring payments switched off by default, or are close to expiry. Enable recurring payments in your banking app, or use a different card.
Can you set up autopay for me?
Yes. Contact us and we'll arrange your automatic payments directly, sized to what you can afford.
