Why it matters

Every account referred to Merion has its own unique reference number. It is how a payment is matched to the right account. Without it, a payment can take longer to identify, so it is worth getting right.

Step by step

  1. Find your most recent letter, email or SMS from Merion.
  2. Look near the top of a letter, often beside your name or the amount, for a field labelled reference or account reference.
  3. In an email, check the subject line and the first few lines of the message.
  4. In an SMS, the reference is usually included in the body of the text.
  5. Copy it exactly, including any letters or dashes.
  6. Enter it when you pay on the Pay your balance page.

If you have lost it

If you cannot find any correspondence, do not guess a number. Contact us through the Help Centre with your name and address, and we will confirm your reference after verifying your identity.

Good to know

  • Your reference number is unique to your account.
  • It appears on letters, emails and text messages from Merion.
  • Copy it exactly, including letters and dashes.
  • If you have lost it, contact us rather than guessing.
