Before you start

You can pay by card without setting up an account. You need your reference number from your letter and a Visa, Mastercard or debit card. The card does not have to be in your own name — see our guide on how to pay on behalf of someone else.

Step by step

  1. Go to the Pay your balance page.
  2. Enter your reference number and the amount you wish to pay.
  3. On the secure provider's screen, enter the card number, expiry date and security code (CVV).
  4. Check the total, including any small surcharge that is shown before you commit.
  5. Confirm the payment and wait for the on-screen confirmation.
  6. Note the confirmation reference and check for the receipt email.

Surcharges and security

A small card processing surcharge may apply. If it does, it is always shown clearly on the confirmation screen before you finalise the payment — you will never be charged a surcharge you have not seen.

Card payments are handled by a PCI-compliant provider. Merion never sees or stores your full card number. For more, visit the Help Centre.
