How to Pay by Bank Transfer

A bank transfer (EFT) sends money straight from your bank account to Merion's, with no card surcharge. This guide shows you how to set it up correctly.

What you'll do

  • Locate the BSB, account number and reference on your letter
  • Set up the payment in your banking app or online banking
  • Add your reference so the payment is matched automatically
  • Confirm the transfer and keep the receipt

What you'll need

Your letter or notice shows the BSB and account number to pay into, along with your unique reference number. The reference is the most important part — it tells us which account the money belongs to.

If you have misplaced your letter, contact us through the Help Centre and we will confirm the details for your account.

Step by step

  1. Open your banking app or internet banking and choose to pay a new payee or account.
  2. Enter the BSB and account number shown on your Merion letter.
  3. Enter the amount you wish to transfer.
  4. In the description or reference field, enter your reference number exactly as printed.
  5. Check the details carefully, then authorise the transfer.
  6. Save or screenshot the payment confirmation from your bank.

When it clears

Bank transfers typically clear within one to two business days. Until the funds reach us and are matched to your reference, your balance may still show as outstanding — this is normal.

If you would prefer the payment to land sooner, paying by card on the Pay your balance page is usually confirmed within minutes.

Good to know

  • Bank transfer is free of any card surcharge from Merion.
  • Always include your reference number in the payment description.
  • Transfers usually clear within one to two business days.
  • Keep your bank's confirmation as proof you paid.
