What happens when you pay in full
When your final payment clears, your balance reaches zero and the account is settled and closed. Routine contact about the account should then stop. A short overlap is possible if a payment is still clearing when a reminder was already scheduled.
Step by step
- Confirm your final payment has cleared — see our guide on how to confirm a payment cleared.
- Allow the normal clearing time for the method you used.
- Contact us through the Help Centre to confirm the account shows as settled.
- Ask for written confirmation that the account is closed and paid in full.
- Keep that confirmation with your receipts.
- If contact continues after the account is settled, let us know and we will correct it.
If contact continues
If you receive a reminder after paying in full, it is most often because a payment was still clearing when the message was sent. Reply with your payment confirmation, and we will update the record. Written confirmation of closure is your best safeguard.
